Synopsis:
Jabardasth is the story of two friends, Bairraju (Siddharth) and Shreya (Samantha), who start a business of Event planning in partnership. Their hard work propels them to huge heights. Thanks to their busy work schedules, they spend good time in each other’s company. Shreya falls in love with Bairraju. But the later feels money is only thing that keeps them both together.
Slowly tensions and frustrations creep in between them and finally their partnership is dissolved. Bairraju now starts his own business of wedding planning with Saraswathi (Nithya Menon) even Shreya continues as the owner of Shreyas Media. Both of them fail in their respective businesses as they are both incomplete without the other. Finally what happens in their lives forms the rest of the story.
How did they perform?
Siddharth who has shelled himself in genre of only love stories had tried mass comedy in the movie and used tapori kinda slang. But the role did not suit the actor and he appeared to have gone overboard in several occasions. Samantha looked extremely beautiful and rendered a good performance. Nitya Menon is good too in the special appearance. Sri Hari in the role of Don Javed Bhai as always lived up to the expectations. There are numerous other artists like Thagubothu Ramesh, Telangana Sakuntala, Dharmavarapu Subramanyam, Uttej are good.
Sunil had rendered voice over for the introduction of Siddharth in the movie. Prince played a little cameo.
Technical aspects:
Jabardast is the second movie of director Nandini Reddy. Her first movie Ala Modhalindhi is well received due to freshness in the script. But just in the gap 2 years, she seem to have lost the track. Jabardast is a rip off of Bollywood blockbuster movie, Band Baaja Baraat. The director even went on to lift several scenes directly from the movie. However, she had done good work in blending our nativity to the script. Even for the rip off, the screenplay is not up to the mark which only slowed the proceedings.
Thaman had come up with good numbers for the movie and the back ground score is just okay. The back ground score which comes in the climax is also an exact rip off from Band Baaja Baraat. Sameer Reddy’s cinematography is excellent. Nandamuri Hari’s scissors should have worked better.
Final Say:
Saddest part of the entire story is UTV had bagged the rights of Band Baaja Baraat and it was announced that Nani will be playing the lead role in the Telugu remake. And now about 80% of the movie is mercilessly lifted by Nandini Reddy. Tragedy is several scenes were used as it is in this movie. The saddest part of this entire episode is Nandini Reddy even failed to execute the script perfectly after all this harakiri.
For the people who already watched Band Baaja Baraat, Jabardast will be the worst possible remake/free make of the movie. And for the rest of the people, its a below average fare.
